I live in Israel and many of my friends are from the ultra-left, including a Jewish Israeli uncle who believes Israel needs to be a one-country state made up of Palestinians and Jews that is not Zionist in nature. He swears up and down that the Palestinian terrorists are good people who are misunderstood and have no agenda and are a result of a hopeless occupation. (Where were these good people in Hebron in 1929 pre-occuptation). The truth is that I love the heart of the left, but the not the brain. I think it is a healthy practice to not mix personal feelings and national interests. Personally- I try to love every Arab I come in contact with. Nationally- I am not naiive enough to think they do not want my destruction--- it says so in many of their charters and 1929, 1948, 1967, 1973, and so on has only prooved this point. Not to mention that the charters of many of these organizations states their goal as the destruction of Israel. The Iranian president has spewed out this.
