There is nothing tangible at all which Israel will gain by peace. If Hamas is not included in the negotiations, not even the sporadic attacks will stop. On the other hand, Israel has much to lose by peace. It would require a substantial withdrawal from the settlements and it would create serious unrest in Israel and the IDF. It would also be very expensive. This begs the question, why then should Israel seek peace. There is only one reason for Israel to seek peace. This is to mollify the Americans and the EU and to gain valuable concessions from them. Note that this can be achieved without reaching peace. All that Israel must do is seek peace in order to get the goodies. Netanyahu knows the drill, having done it before.
