is not Toaff's book, which would have been read by a handful of people if left alone, but the hysterical, mindless reactions to it. How many of you have read the book? Very few, if any, I suspect. Yet your reactions have given more publicity to Toaff's book then it would ever have had otherwise. In the future, anti-semites are not going to invoke Toaff's book, they're going to point to the inane reactions to it. I have read the book and consider it (with reservations on some points) an important and valuable addition to previous studies on the issue - Esposito and Quaglioni's edition of the Trent-trial documents and Ronnie Hsia's book "Trent 1475". Please read these and then read Toaff - you might well disagree with him (as I do) but then you'll know what you're talking about. Please, whether you read these books and minimally inform yourselves or not, do not turn Israel into a nation of present-day witch-hunters, because if you do that will be the real harm...

Netanyahu trades Israel's democracy for a shtetl with German submarines
