Do you actually live on the same planet as the rest of us? Oh, I'm sorry...it's Akiva Eldar were are talking about. President Obama has so many other problems right now, that Israel/Palestinians is really not on the top of his list. He gave up on the settlement freeze because he knows he can't sell any deal to either side, so it's off to Plan 'B' which is... He'll get back to you on that one. Between the WikiLeaks, the Republicans taking over in January, North Korea, Iran, and about twenty other issues coming down the pike on the economic front, he doesn't have the political capital in either the Jewish or Arab world to do anything. Bibi played this right. Obama wasn't giving any guarantees and Abbas can't deliver anything more than a few third world countries recognizing a Palestinian state (which changes nothing on the ground). Sometimes, Israeli columnists can't see the forest from the trees (even when they are on fire and the view NORTH couldn't be any clearer). Obama can't sell Israel out for the next two years because it means the end of his re-election hopes and even more Republicans in the house/senate in 2012.
