Tommy Thompson will say, in the future, that being good at sports is part of the black tradition, being good at the arts is part of the gay tradition and that being good at whatever is part of the whatever tradition! Stereotyping people is demeaning...even if it is meant as a compliment. Reducing a group of Jews to being "good at making money" is an atrocious attempt at flattery. Gov. Thompson should have said that being generous beneficiaries to important causes is part of the Jewish tradition...or naming the legions of educators, scientists, doctors, humanitarians and the like who are part of the Jewish tradition. Why couldn't he say simply that the Jewish tradition includes being great Americans? Unfortunately, Gov. Thompson is just one of those pandering politicians who will say anything to anyone at any time without regard to the consequences. Oy!
