As it is , many of the Reform and Conservative movments underwrite Community Centers together with other "Amutot". The syagogue is reocorded as an activity, the rabbi gets a salary as a "activity directtor", the paycheck comes in reguarly from the Ministry of Sports and Culture. That the kibbutz perhaps hasn't put in for a Community Center from Mif'al Ha Pais, or in fact, they have and are waiting for an approval, is something else. Once there is a Matnas, that comprised all the activities of the Kibbutz, with a "synagogue if it is, still a Kibbutz, Rabbi Gold gets her salary from Hevrat Ha Matnsim. Community rabbis unfortunately are subject to the budget of the Ministry of Religions, and . . . don't ask about how much or how often they they their paychecks. It is obvious there is more "kavod" in the title of Community rabbi, but sometimes it's better to be "smart" than it is to be "right".
