The problem is that Jews throughout history have had more opportunity to be persecuted and killed than others. Jews were always second-class citizens. The 20th century - the century of the realisation of equal rights for man was the century in which the Jews right to persecution peaked and it nearly wiped us out. The solution is to preserve the Jewish majority in the state so that Israel doesn't become another of those Middle Eastern states that sees Jews as a lesser race and in need of organisation, elimination and eventually annihiliation. For the rest of the issues there's no bar to equality: as long as there are democratic provisions to ensure a sizeable Jewish majority.
