Toaff did not say medieval Jews drank the blood of Christian children. He did say people in the middle ages--Jewish and Christian--used human blood in the mistaken belief it had medicinal qualities. In other words, medieval Jews and Christians were both superstitious idiots when it came to medicine. If this is true, big deal. So why accuse Toaff of something he clearly did not do? He merely sought to explain the possible origin of the blood libel. Toaff has nothing to apologize for. His opponents, however, most certainly do.
