The Green Line was a cease-fire line and not a border. With Jerusalem's borders and its status remaining inconclusive and perceived as such by the global community, except by Israel, does it not make sense to halt construction in areas within Jerusalem or surrounding settlements, at least temporarily while negotiations are underway between Israel and the Palestinians? If the U.S. articulates this as a demand in the interim of negotiations, why should opposing coalition partners, Shas and Yisrael Bieteynu, object further? This is not right to ruin this historical opportunity for the Middle East region.
