Perpetual war drives wealth and income into the hands of the well-connected few much faster than, and with none of the good intentions of, social welfare programs (Milton Friedman's observation) and income-redistribution efforts. In that sense, the comparison with Nazi death camps is all the more appalling: to think that this income/wealth transfer is what modern Israel "is for", via its necessary . . . indeed, sine qua non . . . attribute of perpetual war.
