North Korea's 3 Nuclear tests and launches of long range missiles are inspired by the speech made in 2002 by George W Bush in where he put North Korea, Iran and Iraq in the 'axis of evil'. Since then Saddam got invaded on baseless claims of WMD and the other two are arming themselves to stave off invasion. This suggests had Saddam had what he was alleged to have he would have been safe from invasion. North Korea's main aim though is an official end to the Korean war with a peace treaty and normalised relations with the West. The Korean War is still officially on as only a ceasefire was made and not treaty. Just give them what they want and then proper de-nuclearisation can be discussed on an equal footing. Sanctions will only encourage them further!
