Had Obama indeed decided on his ME policies, he had exerted more pressure on Israel to make it "amenable to the peace process." So far America's policies are by and large UNCHANGED [[remember the slogan "Change"]]] and still resemble GW Bush's. But the U.S. doesn't care much for Democracy in counties that produce oil (or weapons in collaboration with U.S. Arms Giants). Nor does it care about the Syrian people. Has they -- they wouldn't have pushed the "Coalition" to start their bloody revolt.
