It would be a farce if it wasn't already a sham. For decades we have paid lip-service to the ideal of democracy without learning or being taught what are our responsibilities to our democracy - whether as citizens or law- makers. The consequences are Bibi's dirty little Jewish political trick last week, which basically changed the government without any reference to us its electorate and this absurdity today. Here we have a non-elected Justice Minister out to circumvent both the Supreme Court and the Attorney General and intent on step by step making Israel a theocratic Torah driven entity with vague overtones of Republic, but more like a dictatorship. Neeman and his Likud chums who are still happy at any opportunity to remove the last vestige of a check and a balance on our system - the Supreme Court - appear to have given in to a Prime Minister who faced rebellion from precisely these men a week ago and has somehow cowed them into this farcical volte-face. Don't think they won't try again. Is it really fear of another clash with the USA? Don't believe it. It is fear of bringing down the edifice Bibi just constructed to keep them in the Knesset another 18 months, whilst the cement is still wet.
