Back in 1939 Germany started deporting people from occupied Poland. This policy became a formal War Crime with the Fourth Geneva Convention. Just because a nation occupies another country does not give it the right to deprive the residents of that country of their property and human rights. I realize that some have a hard time grasping this concept. It is really very simple. Adolf Hitler and his gang of followers gave Conquest, Oppression and Depopulation a bad name at the same time he gave Genocide a bad name. Now, a life-time later, decent people do not want to be assoicated with such concepts and decent nations do not engage in them. At a deeper level such actions - once quite in keeping with 'Jewis values' - had become thousands of years ago contrary to the values of most Jews. The change in values started after the Babylonian Conquest, and has grown through millenia of racial and religious oppression against Jews. Vladek wrote well and susicinclty. Most live and learn.
