(With a tip of the hat to #51 Mark Lincoln) If the ultimate goal is a secure and prosperous Israel at peace with its Arab neighbours, what are some obstacles to that goal? 1. U.S. ME policies - as Israel is dependent on the U.S. for financial aid, weapons and the UN Security Council veto, it must slavishly follow U.S. policies which are detrimental to Israel in the long term: a refusal to deal with Syria on its peace feelers; support for Fatah and Abbas when he is perceived to be a U.S. lackey; unqualified support for the disaster in Iraq and many others. 2. The failure to accede to various UN Security Council resolutions - while Israel's disregard of various resolutions concerning its occupation and policies in the West Bank is mainly ignored by the MSM, the Arab world and a significant number of Europeans begin any peace talks with a recitation of these refusals to accede by Israel. If Israel is to be a law-abiding part of the world community, it must acknowledge its judgments
