Israel must defend its citizens no matter what the cost. This, most level headed, truthful, and intelligent people agree. But if we look at the future than we must also recognize that a leader and likely majority supporter of Hamas is Iran. For all intense purposes Gaza is the front line for Iran. Knowing this we also understand the real threat of Iran on Israel, the Middle East and indeed the security of the world. It is unrealistic to believe Iran's claim for a peaceful nuclear capability due in part to the ongoing threats lobbied at Israel and the West by the Iranian leaders. If Israel is to (and I believe this to be inevitable) take action to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear threat, they also know that Iran will respond with retaliation. The question now becomes what level of retaliation is Iran capable of? Iran's capability to retaliate from it own soil is limited and so they need a "front line" in Gaza to deliver any meaningful retaliation to Israel if (or when) Israel launches a strategic attach on Iran's nuclear facilities. For this reason Israel must not back down to Hamas and their unacceptable behavior of constant assaults on Israel and must remove as much of Hamas’s capabilities in Gaza. If this can be accomplished the removal of Iran’s nuclear threat can be accomplished while limiting Iran’s ability to follow through on its threats against Israel and the rest of the world. This has gone on much to long and needs to come to an end. Our prayers continue for wisdom in Israel to prevail, security for the people of Israel and the citizen populations in Gaza. SGC
