You may remember that the Six Day War in 1967 was started by Egypt, Syria and Jordan. The outcome of this war has absolutely nothing to do with South Africa's Apartheid regime. Had we lost the 1967 war we would not be around to send each other talkbacks. Unlike South African Apartheid, skin color has never been an issue in the Middle East. In this region, the contentious issue is religion. Sadly, we belong to the wrong religion just as we did in Europe, before the founding of the State of Israel. True, our military uses force, this is indeed regrettable - the motivation for this is not a South African kind of Apartheid policy. Ms. Hass' use of this term remains counter-productive, meaningless and needlessly destructive.
