"The US still operates under the rule of law, as opposed to your PA." really? "The Supreme Court has extended the protections of Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions to all of the detainees." The Supreme Court does not have the power to "extend" anything. They merely ruled that Bush Administration's laughable interpretation of the GC was invalid. And what has changed at Guantanamo since that ruling? Congress quickly passed the Military Commissions Act which effectively licensed torture, set up a kangaroo court to convict detainees, and issued a big, fat "get out of jail free" card for all government officials involved. Gitmo detainees are still subject to prolonged isolation, sleep deprivation, sensory deprivation, self-inflicted pain ("stress positions"), and other lovely techniques perfected by the CIA's decades-old torture program. They are still deprived of even the most basic rudiments of a fair trial.
