'A family is a father, mother and children, and not two fathers and a child,' said Avi Wurtzman during his previous Knesset stint. While doing nothing to advance socioeconomic issues, he did initiate a 23 million shekel project for daily study of Torah.09:29 01.12.15 | 1 comments
is where does this supreme confidence in victory come from? The IDF has faced Hezbollah in two wars and the result has been, let's be honest, two strategic defeats. Do these think-tankers know any military history? What about the ever- popular Petreaus COIN report? Because as far as current military thinking, support of the local population is the wining factor in insurgencies, which have lasted in the 20th century up till now for an average of 20 years. So what does the author of this "research" (policy suggestions) mean "the aim of quickly destroying Hezbollah's rocket and missile arsenals and the group's land forces in southern Lebanon"? Isn't that like "liberating" South Vietnam? The only way to achieve this is to destroy all of South Lebanon, which they cannot do without American support and hence, approval. The same exact thing happened in 2006, too much blood and America ends the war. I think these lobbyists sell unrealistic expectations to notoriously ignorant Americans who then back these wars in the US Congress. This support is a political calculation, not out of a genuine desire to help Israel, and cannot be counted on. But that's just an opinion.
