Even in my 3 years in golani 1971-1974 the Defence Ministry started in 1973 an omsbudsman for the soldiers. Chaim Laskov who was Chief of Staff earlier was the first one.I had a Sgt. who used to take advantage of the fact that my Hebrew knowledge was not strong having arrived in Israel only 18 months before being drafted. For about 8 months I realized that I was given extra work, he just looked for someone who could not argue out of,me.I wrote Chaim Laskov after 8 months and the problem solved. If your question is rhetorical, maybe the answer is that they can't reveal to the public what or why the commander supposedly ddid wrong. My guess is that he punished them for neligence or laziness or total lack of discipline & they proved him right by leaving their posts. It totally goes against the grain dangering all the soldiers, and ourselves, gives moral to the other side and only a spoiled brat can act like that.
