To delude Israelis that they have control, or should have had control of what the Palestinians do or don't do is the ultimate hubris. If only there was a stance which did not involve navel gazing, Israel might have accepted with equanimity that settling for a reasonable two state solution, with concessions, was the only way to go. Long ago. To castigate any government for not having told the waves to stand still is just so much delusional thinking; and we have had too much of that since '67.
