While I really would like to know what factors drove Mitchell's resignation, I have no interest in which side can do the better job of painting blame on the other. It is a discredit upon both their houses, that they are so quick to level blame and so slow to discuss peace in any meaningful way. I wish Sen. Mitchell a blissful retirement and hope his replacement is impartial, assertive, and vocal. Wikileaks and Jazeeraleaks have shown just how harmful a private mediation can be, when the blame is loud and the truth is hushed.
