Erekat did the unusual and honorable thing: He took ministerial responsibility and resigned because of failure in his working group, not his personal failure. Abbas now has a nice way of returning Erekat to service: Disband the group and create another one (since a negotiations group will certainly be necessary at some early point). Erekat the honorable, and I think competent too, may head the new group, or perhaps he will get a ministerial position in the new government.
