THE WESTERN WALL There are people with a heart of stone, Rav Kook declared to Ronald Storrs, and stones with human hearts. Hearts alone determine what the heart adores. Those with hearts of stone cannot appreciate how those with human hearts adore upon an ancient plot a wall that’s off their stony charts. Those with human hearts can understand why enemies don’t want them to possess their small ancestral land. To understand becomes the Jew, because Jews’ human hearts aren’t stony, and well have learned to sympathize with views, although they are quite phony, and basically are based on lies, but those with hearts of stone who call the Jews imposters have no claim on that old stony Western wall, because their stony hearts defame not just the Jews who claim it but the wall which they have washed for years, since from it they had all been shut, with hope accompanied by tears. gwhepner@yahoo.com

Not every Israel critic is an Israel hater

Israel’s critics run the gamut from Jew-haters to people who have the country’s best interests in mind. Lumping all together as anti-Semites is a big mistake.
