Europe has always cheered the underdog.People in the UK admired the Great Train Robbers and have been kind to gangsters like the Krays. They also wear Palestinian scarfs as a sign of their multi culturism but Israel has not been a positive image for their European ideals. Israel is really the underdog, surrounded by all these hostile states but how can it sell that idea when its done so many incredible feats like turning the sand into fields and creating such a vibrant country in such a short time. Israeli and Jewish chutzpah goes down well in the aggressive United States but not so good in England where its seen as arrogance. Its funny isnt it that with all that green party left wing cool in Europe that the boys behind the goal get a better image than Israel.
