The reason why the Israeli right is in power is because Israelis fear that if they relinquish the West Bank, Hamas, which is committed to the destruction of Israel will use this territory as a launch pad to attack Israel. Frankly, I doubt you ignore this fact. Israel has had three centrists or left-wing governments over the last 20 years, that were all willing to relinquish the occupied territories. However, they lost power before having time to finalize a peace agreement with the Palestinians because of Hamas attacks against Israeli civilians. By the way, the reason why there are checkpoints in the West Bank, is for security purposes. Besides, 90% of them were removed over the last five years. As for the bombing of the Islamic University of Gaza, you seem to forget that Hamas fired rockets from this area. Maybe the world is unaware of it, but Israelis are not!
