I couldn't agree with you more. Also, even at the risk of retaliation, I would maintain that when Ahmadinejad said that Israel should be "wiped off the map," he was referring to the REGIME that runs Israel - replete with its mini military/industrial complex - and not the Israeli people. This distinction is born out in his comments about the Soviet REGIME no longer being in existence. It, too, was "wiped off the map." The pragmatic Russians - who have friendly and growing trade relations with Iran - fully understand this distinction. And - despite conspiricist notions that the "true" US intention in invading Iraq was to Balkanize the country into three separate and weak entities - wasn't it, at least, the stated US intention to just "wipe Saddam's Baathist REGIME off the map," not its people? A common cynical response to the "War on Terror," currently making the rounds, goes something like this; "Be fearful and shop."
