The Jewish values of Israelis are radically different from the value3s that Diaspora Jews recognize as their Jewish values. And Diaspora Jews must recognize that we do not share the same values as an increasing plurality -- and perhaps majority! -- of Israeli Jews. We have bonds of peoplehood with the Jewish communities in Israel, but we should not have bonds of solidarity with the State of Israel or with most of the socially and politically dominant institutions of the state.
