As for Israel's security, addressed by Obama at the UN, it is a very real concern, but then look at the picture. Israel has the strongest most aggressive military in the region (Turkey might dispute that). The popular actions against it in Turkey, Egypt and Jordan did not come about from a desire to confront Israel militarily. It came about as a result of Israel taking no accountability in attacing and killing their citizens and over the frustration that all nations in the region feel over Israel's intransigence over the settlements. Further, Israel has iron clad security agreements with the US. The fact is that 20 yrs of negotiations have gone nowhere. We all know that. In that time Israel has built and built and built so that anyone looking at a map for the territory designated as Palestine is riddled with Jewish settlements that simply makes a contiguous state impossible. Everyone talks of the rigid position of the palestinians and that should show more flexibility and show more empathy for Israel's position. Much less is the same defense put forward for the Palestinians or their plight. Obama is too fearful of upsetting the AIPAC lobby and he knows the US Congress is an agency for AIPAC, so....we hear little of substance from him. And so it goes.
