The story demonstrates the vile nature of European Nazis. At the same time a few righteous citizens give us hope. This man is a victim of European hatred and ghastliness. G-d Bless Israel for giving him refuge! At the same time the focus should not be on him but on the people of Israel. Israel must preserve its character. It should not water down its Jewishness to accommodate some tragic and exceptional cases. The current status should be preserved whether the missionaries like it or not. PS. My father lost 46 members of his family: parents, brothers, nephews, etc. They lived in Ukraine right on the Polish border. Dad lived a life of a highly tormented person. He never recovered from his tragedies. He questioned whether the Jews should sacrifice so much because they were determined to stay Jewish generating the anger of those who wanted to recruit them and be different. My father was angry with Jewish G-d/Judaism and he lived a life as a non-religious Jew but in the end I buried him as an ultra-Orthodox Jew just as he was born.
