We only hope that the israeli government self destructs. would that it happens before too many more innocents on both sides of the border pay with their lives. Meanwhile, democratic Lebanon grows more united against Israel with every passing moment. Including hezbollah. Factionalization has plagued israeli forever. see Tom Friedman's assessment of Israeli disunity in "From Beirut to Jerusalem" I'm no fan of Friedman's, but back when he wrote that book he was merely an everyday "journalist" who did his homework before he opened his yap - not like the "pundit" he thinks he is today. Israel must accept that sooner or later one MUST negotiate with the other side to have a truly secure state. A overwhelming military response coupled with an attitude of "Never forget" and "No negotiations with terrorists" are modi that have served them very poorly since the founding of the state. Insanity = doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
