Syria has a mutual defence pact with Iran, by which it must come to Iran's assistance if Iran is attacked. Syria has more tanks than Israel, as many planes, and can put 500,000 well armed troops across the Israeli border within an hour. Israel has Mossad in Syria organising protests in the hopes of destablizing it.. Russia has its only window on the West at a sea port on the Syrian coast, and historically has always fought to protect such a window. The road ahead seems clear. On the one side Iran is racing to get a nuclear bomb. On the other, Israel is trying to destabilize Syria so that it wont be in shape to assist Iran when Israel makes a strike. Russia has given clear warning that it wont tolerate military intervention. Hezbollah and Hamas are always ready to send their long range rockets in a shower on Tel Aviv. Nuclear bombs are of no use to anybody. Isreal's attempt to remain enigmatic about its bombs provides no clvoer. If anybody - including Israel - used the bomb it would bring the world down on its neck. Therefore, a strike on Iran will start a conventional war with the US and Western Europe against Iran, Syria, and Russia. No matter who ultimately wins, and no matter what devastation is rained on Iran and Syria, Israel will lay in ruins. The bloggers on this website who talk big with their self congratulory huberis are really very silly.

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
