Apart from the whole corruption thing, which Abbas was never able or willing to confront in his party, he simply has not the stature of a Palestinian leader. Fayyad is willing to go new ways, and to take some risks (Boycott of settler goods, peaceful civil disobedience, eventually unilateral decla- ration of a Palestinian state) in order to bring some movement into the totally blocked situation. And he has the full backing and trust not only of the United States, but the whole International community. The WB Palestinians must for once let their tribe-mentality behind, and make that urgently necessary change. And in the end, those Israelis, who honestly want a fair 2-state solution, would also benefit from that......
