The time to have done this was a week ago, when the PLO adopted this bigoted garbage as its official position (it was not the act of a "lone official"). Obama and Hillary should have denounced this immediately and personally, not through some spokesman, as an afterthought. And the denunciation should have been of Abbas himself, personally (he accepted and announced the position) - just like Hillary and Obama did of Netanyahu when a minor bureaucrat announced the scheduling of an early planning meeting for some apartment that won't be built for 3 years. Unlike an apartment, this official position of Abbas and the PLO is a genuine obstacle to any peace, since no Jewish government is going to give the PA any kind of even symbolic foothold in Jerusalem while this "reformed" Arab terrorist group declares that Jews have no rights there. A public apology to the Jewish People and a formal repudiation of this official PLO position (directly violating their Oslo Accords declaration that got them back from Tunis exile) should now become an Israeli non-negotiable precondition to resuming any talks on an independent PA state. A refurendum of Israeli voters on the subject would quickly verify this.
