Before the war Assad was going to go on the biggest military spending spree in decades buy everything from tanks & jets to submarines to counter the Dolphins but then the civil war came and all that fell through. After 2.5 years of fighting the Syrian military has splintered, alot of the weapons that were bought to be used against Israel have been used against Syrians. Assad has destroyed the economy so there will be no money to rebuild the military for many many years to come once the war ends. Assad may or may not get rid of his chemical weapons ( to early to say if he will slither out of it ) but if there is a chance he will its good for Israel, Hezbollah have for the first time ever Hezbollah are considered a periah by the arab world and even in Lebanon they are loosing support because alot of people don't want their sons being sent to die for Assad in Syria. Hezbollah have kicked Hamas out of Syria which has weakened the palestinians. With the parts of the country smashed, the economy devastated, 2 million refugees and over 100,000 dead when the fighting ends for a very long time to come Syria is going to have bigger problems than Israel. Its also proven right all those who have said the Golan is essential to defense because if we didn't have it the war would have spilled over into the Lower Galilee because there was no buffer zone to keep Israel out of it. No matter how many Israeli politicians go on the record and condemn Assad say he must go secretly I think they are all delighted and think long may this war continue because the longer it goes on the further weakened Syria gets and the weaker Syria is the better for Israel.

Shimon Attal.
For French teen studying in Israel, it's all about being a Jew among Jews

Arrivals / Departures: Anti-Semitism in France is certainly not the reason why this teen chose to come to Israel; an Israeli whose relatives perished in the Holocaust finds living in Berlin 'perfectly fine.'
