The talking heads and most of the western media have concluded that Israel has already "lost" this painful war in Lebanon in practical terms, by not utilizing overwhelming force against Hezbollah. Israelis who elected Ehud Olmert on the expectation he would be small scale Sharon, must re-examine their premises. Olmert, the seemingly cautious lawyer, appears to have prosecuted this war as if he was arguing his case before the international community, who in fact, has never cared much about the Israeli public's safety and security. More important to address the enemies' perceptions which might give Israel deterrence, and give Israel's citizens true security. At the end of the day I expect there will be many recriminations. If the third temple will ever be lost I expect it will be due to Israel's abysmal politics, the politics of who is elected to lead Israel, who is given certain ministries, and politics in IDF leadership. Maybe there is a wakeup call in all of this.
