According to Wikipedia, casualties in WWII were in an approximate ratio of 3:2 for civilian vs military deaths, while 3-4% of the involved populations are thought to have died. The Cast Lead statistics are close to the former parameter and involve a smaller proportion of the populations, irrespective of whether it's estimated by IDF or the "human rights groups". The Gazans, even though declaring a "victory", have for the present, largely stopped shooting their rockets. The israelis seem largely satisfied with this outcome, but also seem w8illing to fire back if the Gazans resume shooting.
