War is an ugly endeavor. It is waged when there is a clear creativity deficit. Often times there are no spectacular outcomes for TV and newspapers to gloat about. Even a declared victory is a state of mind. For the people who lost their lives and their families there is no celebration to follow. We in Israel have been accustomed to some sort of a clean sweep like the six day war or the spectacular crossing of the Suez canal during 1973 war. But wars are not soccer matches. We have to modify our expectations of what military solutions can accomplish that negotiations failed to accomplish. We have had too many wars in this country already. We need to start thinking now more creatively on ways and means to avoid the next military adventure.
