War to my understanding is to make things so bad for your enemy they will stop their behavior. Unfortunately the world does not seem to know that the reason war is not nice is so that it will end. If Isreal continues to let the UN and anti Israel countries call the shots by their criticims and citing of numbers, this war will continue and result in many many more deaths and injuries. Israel must do what is in it's best interests. If the ground war is not the way to go, change strategies. Forget the diplomats, they only have their own interests at heart. If you allow the UN to influence your decisions, you will live to fight another day. Sorry to say, Israel has to decide which country is more important. Lebanon can and will rebuild but Israeli people will be driven into the sea. This is a crucial time for you, you have smart generals pressure your govt to use them. You need a Patton or another nasty guy for whom winning is the issue.
