Publishing photographs of military prisoners in captivity is a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention to which Israel IS a signatory. It is in poor taste and only reinforces the Arab refrain that "Palestinians are treated as animals by the evil Jooz." It shows a lack of judgment and humanity on the part of the former soldier and is something that is being used by Israel's detractors to place a blanket over all of Israeli society saying "look how terrible the Jews are" and "the Jews treat all Palestinians like this." It's harmful because we don't all do this. We are not all so crass, but it makes it easier for the enemy to generalize about us and propagandize.
