There is no reason indeed for Israel not to try and develop peaceful relations with the Palestinians and Syria, except for a lack of political will. Of course, everything does not depend on Israel alone (Arafat did miss a chance in 2000), but the question of settlements is really polluting Israel's policy and leading Israel's leaders to actually act against the interests of the nation as a whole. In the name of a few settlers, who most often represent Israel's extreme right, in the name of a fancy named Eretz Israel, it's Israel's whole population that is becoming the a hostage of a war. That, also, should be claimed. Israel's politicians should strive to get a better life for Israel's population in general, not to satisfy the fancies of Israel's extremists.
