Netanyahu has no vision for peace; no courage to lead Israel towards peace; and a dependence on the zealots within Israel that do not want peace. His speeches are rhetoric to convince American Jews of his good intentions but do not translate into action. Although Obama talks about Middle East peace, Netanyahu (with the help of the IDF) has the Israelis living in a state of fear for their security. As long as that mentality exists, there will be no progress towards peace. Israel needs another Rabin. It also needs to control the religious zealots that killed Rabin and have pushed the settlement agenda at a devastating cost to both Israel and the Palestinians. The power left to Obama in prompting peace is to slash foreign aid to Israel and join with the EU and Russia in recognizing an independent Palestine. Those super powers can then directly help Palestine build its institutions.
