This article is highly misleading. The boycott of the Forum by the Palestinian NGOs (PNGO), and subsequently by the Official Israeli delegation to the Forum, had nothing to do with one state vs. two states, or a refusal to dialogue with people who one disagrees with, but revolved around only one issue: The coordinating committee of the Forum ruled that any group that wishes to take part in the Forum MUST first endorse the Reference Document Declaration of Principles as a necessary condition for participation. The Official civil society Israeli delegation which was led by the Alternative Information Center (AIC), agreed to these stipulations. Yet, negating the participatory work and consensual decisions of the Forum’s organizing committees, the Spanish Foreign Ministry invited to the Forum its own delegation of a second (larger) Israeli delegation, which refused to endorse the Reference Document, bypassing committee decisions and the Forum’s own elected delegation from Israel.
