The third world war was the mostly "cold" war between soviet expansionism and the west. The war is over, the west won, the total number of casualties were, fortunately, much less than in the first two world wars, even though this third war was fought in more areas of the world than either of the first two. The US lost only lost about 100,000 men, mostly in Korea and Vietnam, although the war was fought in many more theatres of operation, Cuba, Nicaragua, Congo, Afganistan, Israel, China, etc. Now that WW III is over and the the participants have rearranged their alliances, we are ready for WW IV, the war between the west, including Japan and China, on one side, and the forces of international islamic terrorism on the other. Hopefully, this war will also be mostly "cold" with relatively few casualties, but there are no guarantees.
