I have said it numerous time over the past years (in these talk-backs) that for the center-left (that is center+left) all the disparate parties have to unite to represent the entire population of that sector. This means also all the Arab parties. For that to happen, all sectors must have proportional representation, meaning, the palestinian Arabs must have close to a 20-30% representation in meaningful position that will assure the representative (MK) key positions in the government if and when they win any election in the foreseeable future. Such a party needs to organize now and serve as a credible opposition party to capture the hearts and minds of the electorate, develop long-range policies that are acceptable to the majority of the citizens, develop a course of action and adhere to it. Above all- the personality involved have to leave their petty agendas and egos behind and adopt a a plan that put the best interest of the states and the people above all else. In other words- that party has to present a paradigmatic shift from the business as usual. Else, there is no end to the misery in sight. Perhaps a best way to start is to name the new party the Israeli social- democratic party (Hamiflaga hasozial-democratit hayisraelit).
