The Congress voted without recording each members vote. Under the cloak of being anonymous, Congress passed the resolution. This was an act of cowardice avoiding accountability to their electorate. On the other hand, a malaize has gripped middle Israel. The zealots rule while middle Israel is content with the status quo. Leadership is taking Israel down the path to self-inflicted delitimization. They ignore international law while pandering to conservative elements that harbor self-righteous actions inflicting pain on another people. The future is diversity and regional partnership. However the zealots can only survive in the irrationality of a fortress island state. It is up to middle Israel to recognize the damage being done to Israel and take back control. Rabin, Olmert and Livni saw a peaceful, prosperous future, and we need to build on their good works.

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
