I welcome the leadership of Rabbi Jacobs. After many years of active involvement in my congregation, including 9 years on the Board of Trustees, I have recently been distancing myself because of the total apathy toward Israel on the part of leadership and among the congregants themselves. I now attend services 80 miles away to be in more of a "Zionist" environment, and have become active as an AIPAC lobbyist. I am hoping that the new energy being brought to the Reform movement by Rabbi Jacobs will spur more support for Israel among the grass roots here in the US.
