Gideon, the US is not a European or Arabic Monarchy. We do not have Court Jews. Our Jewish citizens are part and parcel of the country, just like some citizens happen to be Muslim or Bahia or Buddhist. A lot of the current administration's hierarchy happens to be Jewish. So What? Wiesel is not beholden to you or to Netanyahu. He's allowed his own opinions as an American. Here's a clue: Americans don't have to have the same agenda as you or Netanyahu or Abbas. We can have our own agenda. That does not make us an enemy. It makes us Americans, with our own agenda. Following the lead of any one political party in Israel has never resulted in peace for Israel with anybody. With Egypt, your had to come to an accommodation with the Egyptian point of view. Jimmy Carter helped. With Jordan, you had to accommodate the King Hussein point of view. Bill Clinton helped. The US helped you realize the accommodation needed with both. Neither you agenda nor Netanyahu's will control everything. Abbas will have some say and so will Mitchell and so will Obama. Nobody will march in lock-step.
