obama had declared in berlin that he was a citizen of the world. once elected, he went on a tour apologising for american "arrogance." it is ironic that this man, so arrogant and self-obsessed, thought it proper that he should apologise for hundreds of millions. this, however, explains the catastrophic blunders of obama's presidency. there is very little to add to ari shavit's brilliant analysis. unless iran is stopped militarily, the united states will lose its regional hegemony. such loss will lead to endless wars, to iran's ascendence in the region and far beyond, to nuclear proliferation both within the region and far beyond, including to american shores. the cold war, conducted essentially by rational men, will be seen as a peaceful era compared to what a nuclear iran could bring forth. israel will be threatened like at no time since 1948. as shavit points out, she will be faced with many multiple enemies on all fronts. israel will prevail, but the price will be very steep.
