US Christian fundamentalists are becoming more moderate. As a gay man, I can see in all my interactions over years, Christian fundamentalists are becoming increasingly pluralistic. I knew they would. At first, Christian fundamentalists mobilized politically in the 1980s. They were dangerous because extremist views gained sudden access to power. But because of the nature of the American electoral system: Christians needed to APPEAL to Nonchristian voters to gain political seats. Becoming "APPEALING" and forming political coalitions with Nonchristians to achieve goals, forced the fundamentalists to accommodate Nonfundamentalist viewpoints .. and eventually even understanding of others. A concensus is emerging that Christian fundamentalists have the right to be Christians fundamentalists and that others have the right not to be. Unfortunately, the Israeli electoral system makes moderation impossible. Its also impossible to get rid of specific villains.
